THE DATA BEHIND THE VIEW

Open sources. Clear context.

Westward combines public weather services and detailed maps. Each measurement keeps its source and time; missing data is shown as unavailable.

NOAA Aviation Weather Center ↗METAR airport observations and pilot reports. Station wind is in knots; pressure is the airport altimeter setting. Humidity is calculated from temperature and dew point. National Weather Service ↗Point forecasts, hourly conditions, forecast snowfall and precipitation, nearest station observations, and active alerts. Forecast intervals are displayed with their valid times. NOAA map services ↗Radar reflectivity, National Digital Forecast Database fields, and NOHRSC snow-depth analysis. Radar reflectivity is not a precipitation total; snow depth is not snowfall. OpenStreetMap contributors ↗Streets, highways, cities, trails, parks, and landmarks. Zoom in for local detail. Online map tiles require an internet connection. USGS The National Map ↗Topography, boundaries, geographic names, roads, water features, and shaded terrain. Public-domain geographic data. U.S. Census state boundaries ↗Bundled generalized ACS 2025 boundaries for the 11 western states. Zoomed road and landmark detail comes from the selected base map.

Colored station labels show actual reported values; they are not interpolated between airports. Forecast raster fields, when enabled, are distinct from station observations. Pilot reports describe conditions at the report's altitude and time. Feeds can be delayed or incomplete. For flight planning, use an official aviation weather briefing.
